University of Alabama finished in a tie for 28th in a ranking of best library and information studies programs by U.S. News that examined 51 campuses around the nation.

The Tuscaloosa school’s peer assessment score was 2.6. The study ranked master’s degree programs using peer assessment questionnaires to rate programs’ academic quality on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being marginal and 5 being outstanding.

Deans, directors and senior faculty members provided the assessment information.

Schools with scores of less than 2.0 in the assessment are listed in alphabetical order at the bottom of the list. U.S. News calculated the numerical rank for these programs but did not publish the information for editorial reasons.
