Gadsden/Anniston, Ala.—Gadsden State’s Veterans Upward Bound program will host Tech Tuesday BYOD: Learn to use iPad/iPod Touch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center and Beck Field House on the Wallace Drive Campus. This workshop is customized to offer assistance in using the latest technology devices. A Résumé/Interview Skills workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 24 at the Ayers Campus Learning Resource Center. The workshop will assist veterans in refreshing their résumé and preparing for upcoming interviews. Please RSVP to 256-549-8204 to attend the workshops.
Military veterans residing in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Marshall, St. Clair or Talladega counties are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through VUB—a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Military veterans residing in the Cherokee, DeKalb or Marshall county area are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through VUB, a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory in order to participate. Free workshops are offered on a range of topics including Tech Tuesday, which teaches eligible participants to use the latest technology, computer skills, financial literacy and résumé and interview skills. Computer Training offered at Gadsden State
Gadsden, Ala.--Gadsden State Community College’s Skills Training Division is conducting computer training courses for those interested in professional development. Classes are available in Microsoft PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Word 2016 Beginning, Microsoft Word 2016 Intermediate, Microsoft Excel 2016 Beginning and Microsoft Excel 2016 Intermediate. Classes are open to all ages. Enrollment for each course is a minimum of 10. All classes are held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Office Careers Lab located in the Realtime Reporting Building on the East Broad Campus. Class dates vary with the first of the classes beginning Sept. 3. The cost is $99 per class. A reference book is required for each class and must be purchased in advance. Gadsden State hosts student success workshop
Gadsden, Ala.--Gadsden State Community College is hosting a Student Success Workshop beginning at noon, Sept. 17 at Gadsden State Cherokee. Students planning to transfer to a four-year university are invited to attend to meet with representatives from over 20 colleges who will be available to answer questions and provide prospective students with information on scholarships, financial aid, and housing. Gadsden State Alumni are seeking submissions for an inaugural art exhibition
Gadsden, Ala. – The Gadsden State Community College Alumni Advisory Board and Walnut Gallery announce a call for entries for the first Juried Alumni Art Exhibition. The deadline for entries is Sept. 20. First prize is $100 and other prizes will also be awarded. The show seeks sponsors for special prizes. The exhibit’s reception and awards ceremony is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Walnut Gallery. The exhibit will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 26 only.
